AG Analysis-Probability: Antoine Gloria (Sorbonne Université and Université Libre de Bruxelles): Waves in heterogeneous media

Ort: MPI für Mathematik in den Naturwissenschaften Leipzig, Inselstr. 22, G3 10 (Hörsaal)

Vortrag in der Reihe: AG Analysis-Probability In this blackboard talk I’ll describe three models of waves / dynamics in heterogeneous media: acoustic waves in a random medium, quantum wave in a random potential, and the Lorentz mirror walk on the lattice. For each model we are interested in the long time dynamics and wish to answer the following question: what is the effect of randomness on the dynamics? These three models display three typical behaviors: ballistic transport, localization, and diffusive transport. I will give arguments in favor of each behavior, and draw links between one another. This talk is based on joint works with Mitia Duerinckx (Brussels) and Matthias Ruf (EPFL), with Guy David (Orsay) and Svitlana Mayboroda (Minneapolis), and with Felipe Hernandez (Stanford).
