Christiane Görgen und Silvia Schöneburg-Lehnert: Vista Seminar on Reusability of Research Data across Mathematics

Ort: P901

This instant of the vista seminar brings together people from diverse areas of mathematics, such as didactics, geometry, group theory, and non-linear algebra, to talk about one topic that is common to all of them: research data. Research data in maths is an umbrella term for all material necessary to verify research findings. These can be mathematical documents, notebooks, domain-specific research-software packages and libraries, computer algebra systems, programmes, scripts, simulation data, formalised mathematics, collections of mathematical objects, and mathematical models. In six talks we want to find out which types of research data are present in this local community, how these are currently being handled, and whether there are any obstacles to long-termin preservation of results. In particular, we will focus on the question of reusability or rather: how does current research build on past research and how can it be shaped and stored for easy reuse? Participation is by invitation only. Please contact the organisers if you are interested in joining.
