Date: Mondays, 15:00 - 16:30, in Room 1-22 in the Interim of the Mathematical Institute, Johannisgasse 26. First meeting on 6 April.
Aim: Talks are given by students, graduands and PhD students on the lecture notes Mixing for Markov Chains and Spin Systems by Yuval Peres. May be the book Markov Chains and Mixing Times is helpful.
Requirements: Every talk should be carefully organised, understandable and enjoyable for a general graduate probability audience. The talks may also be given in German. Everybody who is interested to give one or two of the talks should contact me by mail at due time. Proofs that are left as an exercise in the text should be carried out. It is also part of the preparation of the talk to make a wise decision what to abbreviate and what not, in case that time is lacking.
Added on 30 March: I forgot to mention that the seminar certificate will be awarded only after I received and accepted a written elaboration, either in English or in German. It the seminar participant agrees, this text will be published on this site.
Seminarscheine: Fortgeschrittene Student(inn)en der Wahrscheinlichkeitstheorie, die einen Seminarschein erwerben möchten, sind herzlich eingeladen, in diesem Seminar einen Vortrag zu halten. Kenntnisse im Umfang meiner beiden Vorlesungen Wahrscheinlichkeitstheorie 1 und 2 sind ausreichend. Setzen Sie sich bitte rechtzeitig mir mir in Verbindung zwecks Auswahl eines Termins!
Neu am 30. März: Ich vergaß zu erwähnen, dass der Seminarschein nur vergeben wird, nachdem ich eine schriftliche Ausarbeitung (in Englisch oder in Deutsch) erhalten und akzeptiert habe. Diese Ausarbeitung wird auf dieser Seite veröffentlicht, sofern der Seminarteilnehmer zustimmt.
Evrybody whose elaboration can be downloaded from this page is entitled to pick up her/his Seminarschein from Mrs Perge (room 2-36) during her office hours.
